PAUL BADURA-SKODA's Birthday-"Party" at Beijing
The Austrian pianist Paul Badura-Skoda (85) played full of musical power a concert in Beijing's "Forbidden City" Concert Hall.
After the Chinese Cultural Revolution Paul Badura-Skoda has been the first "western" pianist who gave a concert in Beijing. Since then the good contacts exist and have been improved. Exactly on his 85th birthday the artist has been invited to a piano festival to play a "Birthday-Concert".
Badura-Skoda played his beloved Schubert on a piano from his own and Schubert's hometown, Vienna: A BÖSENDORFER-Imperial.
After the concert the great Austrian artist has been honored and about 70 children came to the stage, singing "Happy Birthday!" and a big birthday cake was brought in. Paul Badura-Skoda has adressed words of thanks to the audience and the organisers, showing also how impressed he was by the young listeners, the big cake and the wonderful piano.
