Birdseye Maple
Birdseye maple (acer saccharum) has a figured grain texture and is a variant of the North American hard sugar maple tree that grows in the north-eastern part of North America. The wood is largely light-coloured and has a fine porous structure, and the so-called birdseyes have 3 - 5 mm diameters occurring in intervals of about one centimetre apart. Birdseye maple veneer is very delicate and glossy and is used in high-quality residential furniture and for the interior panelling of luxury limousines. All grand pianos are available in birdseye maple.
