Suhrud Athavale, born in Tacoma Park, Maryland (USA) in 1991, started studying piano at the age of six. In 2003, he won the second prize at the Mary Smart Final Auditions (Division II) and the third prize at the Mary Smart Scholarship Competition (Division III) in the following year. In 2006, Suhrud Athavale moved to Vienna, where he participated in the master classes of the Vienna Music Seminar and performed in the Prize-Winners Concert in the former Bösendorfer Hall. In 2008, he performed in the course of the Wiener Bezirkswochen and additionally reached the finals of the Golden Tone Awards Competition (Age Division 14-17). In 2010, Suhrud Athavale participated in the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition organized by the European Broadcasting Union, and performed in the Gala Concert hosted by the Vienna Music Seminar. Additionally, he was awarded the first prize in the Professor Dichler-Sato Competition. In 2011, Suhrud Athavale gave his debut concert in the Magna Auditorium of the Musikverein in Vienna. Suhrud Athavale currently studies piano performance with Peter Efler at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
