Poems by Alfred Brendel & Works by W.A. Mozart, L. v. Beethoven and more
Alfred Brendel is without doubt considered one of the greatest pianists of the 20th and 21st centuries. The piano virtuoso is best known for his masterful interpretations of the works of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and Liszt. His double life, however, is somewhat less well known: The pianist is also a poet. Alfred Brendel exercises himself in the grotesque. His poems form an airy bridge between sense and nonsense and challenge not only those with musical knowledge to hearty laughter in an extremely witty way.
Robert Meyer, actor, theater director, ensemble member of the Vienna Burgtheater and director of the Volksoper Wien from 2007 to 2021, will present a selection of the most bizarre and absurd poems. The great masters of music history, from Ludwig van Beethoven to Johann Strauss, are literally brought to life - not only linguistically, but also pianistically through the congenial interpretations of Beethoven Prize winner Philipp Scheucher.
