Tomoko Mayeda (Austria)

"The warm, rich, noble sound of the Bösendorfer piano harmonises perfectly with my violin. That's the Viennese sound for me."

Tomoko Mayeda is a violinist and state-certified Austrian tour guide. She began playing the violin and piano at an early age and studied violin in Tokyo and Düsseldorf, where she passed her concert exam with honours. She has been honoured with several prizes, including the special prize of the international Tibor Varga Violin Competition.

She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Europe, South America and Japan and has organised her own concert series in Japan since 2007. In 2015, she was appointed a consul by the Vienna Red Cross for her commitment to charity concerts.

In 2019, she performed on a concert tour in cooperation with the Austrian Foreign Ministry as part of the 150-year anniversary of Austrian-Japanese relations. Her spiritual concerts in famous churches around the world, such as St Peter's Church in Vienna and Basilica San Francesco in Assisi, are a special project.

Her CD recordings include works by Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven, as well as two CDs with the renowned pianist Paul Badura-Skoda. In 2022-24, Tomoko Mayeda was one of the first musicians in the world to release two CDs (Mozart and Brahms violin sonatas) on which she plays the piano and violin herself.

Since 2025 she is Bösendorfer Ambassador as well as Lobmeyr Ambassador and played the two instruments in the Austrian pavilion at the Osaka Expo 2025.
