Cadmiel Boțac (Romania)


Cadmiel Boțac was born in 1997 and began studying piano at the age of four in his hometown of Sighetu Marmației under the guidance of his teacher Monica Chifor. His talent was recognized early on, as he won his first national competition at the age of six. Further national and international awards followed, the most notable being First Prize at the "Young Virtuoso" competition in Zagreb and First Prize at the "Dinu Lipatti" competition in Bucharest.

Since 2011, Cadmiel has been a student of the renowned pianist Daniel Goiți, professor at the "Gheorghe Dima" National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca, first as a pupil and then as a university student. His artistic training was enriched by masterclasses in Salzburg, Vienna, and Strasbourg, where he benefited from the mentorship of great pianists and educators such as Robert Levin, Boris Berman, Markus Schirmer, and Stephanos Thomopoulos.

In 2014, Cadmiel won First Prize at the international "Astana Piano Passion" competition in Kazakhstan, receiving high praise from renowned pianist Denis Matsuev. Shortly thereafter, he won the "Milano Piano Talents" competition, the international "Adilia Alieva" competition (France), the international "Carl Filtsch" competition (Sibiu), and the "Transylvanian Piano Competition" (Brașov).

Regarding scholarships, Cadmiel Boțac has for years been a recipient of grants from the "Foundation for the Community" and the "Royal Margaret Foundation of Romania" as part of the "Young Talents" program. In 2020, Cadmiel was awarded the European Yamaha Foundation Scholarship, a competition held at the European level.

Cadmiel Boțac has given piano recitals and concerts in the USA, Luxembourg, Croatia, Italy, France, Russia, Germany, and Austria.

In November 2021, Cadmiel Boțac’s debut CD was released by "Casa Radio" publishing house in Bucharest, a project initiated and coordinated by Radio Romania Muzical. The CD features solo piano works by Ludwig van Beethoven, Frédéric Chopin, and George Enescu.

In 2022, Cadmiel Boțac won First Prize at the National "New Hope Grand Prix" competition held in Cluj-Napoca. As part of the award, the young pianist took part in the 2022–2023 season tour, performing ten concerts with some of Romania’s most prominent orchestras.

In January 2023, Cadmiel completed his Master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in the class of Professor and pianist Stefan Arnold and is currently pursuing postgraduate studies at the same institution. Since October 2023, Cadmiel has also been a doctoral candidate at the "Gheorghe Dima" National Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca.

A very significant event in Cadmiel Boțac’s career took place on December 2, 2024, at the Musikverein in Vienna, where he won First Prize at the "Bösendorfer Competition," organized by the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in collaboration with the Bösendorfer piano manufacturer. In recognition of this achievement, Cadmiel Boțac has been awarded a new Bösendorfer instrument.
